April 2025
When we left in December 2024 we had 10 layers and 9 broilers left and it was disappointing to find more chickens had died before we got there in March. However 6 broilers and 3 cockerels have been sold leaving 1 broiler to fatten up a bit more, 1 cockerel and 3 hens that are now laying eggs!!

We put some sand down for the chickens which they seem to like and it was good to see they are using the perches. We made nesting areas and I was over the moon when the first egg was laid. On the other half we put down wood shavings and bought more feeders, food and 39 chicks (1 was missing). We hope that as the weather is hotter at nights now we will have a better survival rate.
